This album is a masterpeice! Dave had sobered up and the music improved because of it. This is the first album with the now classic Megadeth line-up of: Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, and Nick Menza. Friedman gave a new dimension to the already proficient team of Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson. In any case, the music is tight, fast, and the sonics are superior to anything up to this point. Every song is essential Megadeth. R.I.P. remains my favorite Megadeth disc.

I totally agree with Dave. R.I.P. defines exactly what speed metal is. Dave Mustain and Marty Freidman go together like bread and butter. Dave is a brilliant song writter. You can't even come up for air when you listen to this album except for Dawn Patrol. I played guitar in a band playing Metallic, Pantera, etc. trying to play songs off this album made me want to throw my guitar out the window. It stands as my favorite thrash metal album Ever!

Best Megadeth album, best Megadeth line-up! Marty'Cacophony'Friedman joined in this band, and his guitarwork is awesome to listen! Hangar 18, Take No Prisoner, Tornado Of Souls, Rust In Peace/Polaris; WOW! Every tune is killer in this headbangers ball!

From: Zze Date: October 21, 2003 at 4:58
this is a good american speed metal act ( back then my favourite album ), however, I still prefer Peace Sells

SIN DUDA EL MEJOR DISCO DE MEGADETH.

From: Shannon Date: June 20, 2004 at 0:48
This is a great album with the start of the 'classic' Megadeth line-up. Awesome guitar work too. I give it 4.5 out of 5.

From: Donmeister Date: June 25, 2004 at 13:05
The album of all time for me. First Megadeth album I ever got and I have never looked back. This was when they were really at their peak. I dont like the never ending comparisons with Metallica, but Im sure if classic Megadeth reformed they'd kick any bands ass. Can't wait untill Mustaine brings new album out this september, shame Ellefson cant be part of it but Im sure we know who to blame for that! DAVE IS BACK! MEGADETH RULE ALL!

From: Big Papa K Date: July 7, 2004 at 18:29
This one is the classic speed metal album of all time. The first two songs are among the best one-two punches in metal history and the album does not let up. Yes, 'Dawn Patrol' sucks, but the other eight tracks are all excellent. 10/10

From: Richierocker Date: July 8, 2004 at 22:44
Absolute masterpiece!! I Broke this one out after a very long time of non listening, and man does it smoke , the guitar work by Mustaine and Freidman is wicked awesome and the vibe is heavy, in your face, intense and all around classic heavy metal album.

From: Deth Dude Date: July 20, 2004 at 18:40
Megadeth rules with this album!!

From: Psychotron502 Date: August 4, 2004 at 20:04
this definately is one of the top thrash metal albums in creation. tornado of souls is like one of the coolest songs ever, and the begging harmonics sound so awesome. they make me drool..... and take no prisoners. holy shit, totally brutal. this was the first Megadeth album i got. without it, i might now have went out and bought every last Megadeth album there is!

From: adanevans Date: August 6, 2004 at 8:09
Menos salvaje que el Peace Sells....pero en este disco todas las canciones merecen la pena (no es que merezcan la pena, es que son imprescindibles). JGG, tu si que sabes!

From: Steve Date: September 2, 2004 at 7:50
This is, without a doubt, THE best Megadeth album and one of the best Metal albums ever made!! I gave this album a perfect 10!!! Not 1 bad song (heck even Dawn Patrol is worth listining too!) and some of the best riffs ive ever heard! Hangar 18 and Tornado of Souls are absolute classics, Riffagewise, lyrically and solowise!! A MUST-have!! 10/10

From: Metal T Date: September 2, 2004 at 16:49
This is a d*mn good record.I remember when it came out,I heard such an improvement in the overall sound of 'Megadeth'.A really fast, tight well crafted speed metal album, this is like Steve--touched on,their best work.'Holy Wars','Hangar 18(the leads and arrangement on that song are freaking brilliant),'Poison Was The Cure' etc. And ill second what Richierocker-stated above 'Absolute Masterpiece' . ----------

A classic metal album, Megadeth the best trash/speed metal band, a fuckin masterpiece Megadeth Rules!!!

From: Steve Date: September 6, 2004 at 3:32
I also like to add that Marty Friedmen is Megadeths best guitarist and couldent have joined Megadeth at a better time!! One of my favourite guitarists ever in my opinion!!

From: RATTLEHEAD Date: September 8, 2004 at 19:14
This album is kick ass. It blows Metallica away. I still think Peace Sells... is the best Megadeth album.

2nd favorite album to Pink Floyd's THE WALL, my god this is the Holy Grail for headbangers, buy this if u want real speed/thrash metal.(not Metallicrap) Mustaine is the metal Einstein!!!!!!!

From: munta Date: April 18, 2005 at 22:44
By far thebest album ever I got it the day it came out and have listened to it almost every day and never got sick of it. Just seen MEGADETH in concert FUCKIN ARWSOME

From: GLAM FAN Date: April 19, 2005 at 0:42
Rust in peace sure marks a masive improvement over so far so good so what. It's a classic cause first it got marty friedman who is argubly one of the best metal guitarist. His solo in all th songs are brilliant. Speaking of songs, hangar 18 is argubly their finest epic and my favourite are take no prisoners and tornado of soul. The songwriting here are solid too. Great effort. ratings:9/10

From: ed Date: May 12, 2005 at 16:41
Awesome cd! I always hear this banging my head! Holy Wars and Tornado Of Souls are just some of my favorites.

From: pie75 Date: September 7, 2010 at 8:09
this to me was the true follow up to peace sells technicaly their best but i like peace sells just slightly better this is their most talented and best lineup it's a shame marty never stayed though he did say he was never a big fan of speed/thrash metal i love holy wars, the iron maidenish hangar 18,five magics and tornado of souls yes dawn patrol is silly but the rest kicks arse totaly essential this album

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: November 1, 2014 at 22:16
Most everybody's favorite Megadeth album, except people who want to be contrary. As Marty Friedman's debut alongside Mustaine, naturally it's guitar heaven. I mean those two shred nonstop. The songs are as fast and intricate as ever, and a number of the band's all-time best are found within, including the monster one-two opening salvo of "Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18." Dave's attention is turning more to real-world sociopolitics, as were many bands formerly dealing in horror/fantasy lyrics. "Tornado of Souls," another highlight, may be the first thrash-metal breakup song. Even the half-written, guitar-free "Dawn Patrol" succeeds because of Ellefson's nasty bass groove.

First of all Megadeth has never been my cup of tea,i own some albums and like some songs mostly because of "general culture" but that's about all...this release for some people is like a sound climax but for me is just another metal release of some band..."Holy Wars" & "Rust In Peace" are the ones i like from this one...i could accept tracks 3 & 6 as well...a matter of tastes but nothing outta the extraordinaire in here IMHO...83/100

From: ItalRocker Date: May 16, 2022 at 1:54
For me, this album slams the door on the Megadeth vs. Metallica rivalry as NOTHING before or since this release from either band can or ever will top this! FACT!!!!
