From: dokken6008 Date: July 1, 2002 at 2:28
The synth-guitars are a HUGE added bonus to me on this one. Great, great, GREAT heavy metal disc. It was an experiment of sorts--a CONCEPT album--but it sure as hell panned out and it is still one of Maiden's best. The flow from song to song is excellent and all of the music is done in great taste and in spectacular creativity. This was my third Maiden cd and it almost made me want to throw 'Fear Of The Dark' into a trash can. Used to listen to 'SSOASS' behind school all pissed off--memories.

quite good melodies and lyrics, but it's not something you should be mad about.. ***/*

This is after my opinion, the best Iron Maiden-album ever. There is not one single boring track on this album. Can I Play With Madness, Moonchild and the title track are the definitive highlights on this album. Bruce Dickinson just gotta be one of the worlds best vocalists. The album-cover is also one of the coolest in their career. UP THE IRONS TO YOU ALL!!!!!

iron maiden are a great ban and this is an album you can listen to the whole way thru, but MANOWAR is still the greatest! aaaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!!

god damn, if this ain't their best album! ever! man!

From: Zze Date: October 21, 2003 at 6:38
this is the worst Maiden CD of the 80´s. I like some songs like Infinite Dreams, Evil That Men Do and The Prophecy but the rest is lame compared to Piece of Mind or even Somewhere in Time

Their last classic album, masterpiece. 9.0/10

From: twitch Date: April 29, 2004 at 2:27
Gotta agree with Zze - when this hit the shelves most of us die-hard IM fans died hard... Recently found a vinyl copy at Value Village for a dollar and it still reeks, tho' all the Riggs art makes it worth the dollar...

From: Shannon Date: June 19, 2004 at 20:01
This is an 'Epic' album from Maiden that grows on me with every listen over time. Every song on here is highly composed and the music is just great. A masterpiece. A+

From: Shannon Date: June 19, 2004 at 20:03
Zze and twitch need to lighten-up too.

From: Big Papa K Date: July 1, 2004 at 17:45
This is better, with 'The Evil That Men Do' and 'Can I Play With Madness', but too many keyboards here. 7/10

From: Richierocker Date: July 5, 2004 at 14:57
What is a Clairvoyant anyway? Decent album, it took me a while to get into it but its solid, a long with moonchild and a few others.

From: Whop Date: July 12, 2004 at 7:05
What a great album..just go out and buy it.Don't listen to what others write negative about it,trust me.

From: jack Date: August 16, 2004 at 6:44
This album sounds like thier version of judas priest's turbo:too many keyboards and synthesizer sounding on the album. Still if you compared this to manowar's kings of metal and priest's ram it down,i would have to say this one is better.

Don't worry about comparisons, bottom line...it's a killer album as most of Maiden's were right up until Gers joined up. Still chock full of galloping rhythms, dual guitar soloing, and fine choruses. Comparing this to Turbo is like saying BB King is similar to Van Halen because they both have guitar on them.

From: Gus Fogle Date: August 26, 2004 at 22:51
I notice that strangely, the other reviewers have not gone in-depth to describe this album's second disc, (probably because this clock is winding insanely fast) anyway, I enjoy this album's soound just a little more than some of their earlier stuff. I think Bruce's vocals matured a lot. The synthisizer sound is only for textrure, Van Halen's jump has too much synthisizer. Although there is a certain hollow quality to the album, this and Some where in time are both masterpieces: 9.5/10

From: Steve Date: August 31, 2004 at 9:07
At the moment this is my favourite Iron Maiden album. The MoonChild riff is awesome and the clairvoyant has a kick ass solo. Heck, all the songs are mad!! Get it if u havent already!! 9.8/10

From: Supernaut Date: September 20, 2004 at 14:28
A Clairvoyant is a psychic for one, and second this album kix major ass, buy it and rock out

From: jack Date: October 25, 2004 at 6:03
I also notice this album is more progressive metal than their previous work. It sounds a bit like queensryche's early days. Very melodic is what best describes this album. Most track start off with slow pace and rythym guitar but eventually got heavier. Infinite dream sounds more like a power ballad. Ratings:8/10

From: Master Date: November 17, 2004 at 5:45
Moonchild is the best Maiden song!

From: EDDIE Date: February 4, 2005 at 7:53
I love this album! All the songs are cool, but my favorites are The Evil That Men Do and the title track (a really long epic song, but is just GREAT!!!!!!!)

From: D Date: July 8, 2005 at 13:03
Quite possibly the greatest album ever made.

From: Andrew Date: July 15, 2005 at 2:54
"The Evil That Men Do" and the title track are worth a listen, but that's about it.

From: Alice Date: September 10, 2005 at 13:39
Some years ago a friend of mine told me something about this album that can resume this review. "I had never heard anything of Maiden before, when I first heard the album I though that this was a Best of...compilation of the band". 10/10

From: Luis Duarte Date: September 15, 2005 at 11:26
7th Son of a 7th Son , Somewhere in Time and The Number of the beast , are the best maiden albuns.Technicaly this is their best one , all songs are worth listening.

From: juan carlos Date: November 20, 2006 at 8:48
"Infinite Dreams" TEMAZOO!! "Moonchild" con un inicio bien piola, excelente. TODO el disco es una maravilla. Ni mas que decir. IMPRESCINDIBLE!! 10/10

From: pie75 Date: September 5, 2010 at 4:44
the last of the classic maiden albums every song is great experimenting with a concept album was ballsy but they pulled it off the most underated song here is the prophecy

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 28, 2015 at 16:17
"Can I Play With Madness" is my fave track in here...even though i am not too enthusiastic with this album at all i must recognize that it has to be one of the finest albums Iron Maiden has recorded...tracks 4,7 & 8 are also good ones...87/100

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: December 6, 2020 at 23:57
This album has its share of devotees, but I'm not one of them. There are four really good songs, though: "Can I Play With Madness," "The Evil That Men Do," "The Clairvoyant" and "Only The Good Die Young." But overall, I find that the guitar sound is blunted by the keyboards, and the album as a whole just doesn't sound very heavy. Also, Bruce's histrionics are really getting on my nerves. Excessive, unnecessary vibrato on nearly every phrase, like all that "human air-raid siren" talk has gone to his head or something. This is the band's last good album for a while, but I would take any of the first fiv over this.

From: hair metal again Date: May 27, 2022 at 20:25
excellent release for IRON MAIDEN once again with great songs ,shorter, catchier along with their classic duo guitar work and a fine performance by Bruce!bought it when it got out and revisiting it brings back youth memories!
